Welcome to our hostel

Our brand new group accommodation in Fremantle, Perth, gives groups all the comfort and facilities of a regular HI hostel – but with a bit of a twist. The hostel is located in a division of the former Fremantle Prison – used from the 1800’s to the 1900’s to house prisoners in Australia. The prison wing has been renovated and is now comfortably modern – however still beautifully maintaining its original charming and historical quirks.

If you and your group are feeling particularly brave – spend a few nights sleeping in the former prison cells! If you’re feeling a little less adventurous however – settle yourselves in the ensuite, private and more luxurious group dorm rooms.

School groups and those on educational trips will be in their element at Fremantle Prison hostel – students can divulge into the rich history displayed throughout the building during their stay, learning about the experiences of the inmates and the intriguing history of the prison.

If you and your students want to escape lock and key for a while – the surrounding areas are filled with wonderful attractions and a wide selection of educational hotspots. Visit the local Maritime Museum - one of the city’s most popular attractions, as well as shipwreck galleries, historically educational tram rides and tours around the neighbouring Fremantle Prison.

If you’re thinking about a group trip to Fremantle, Perth, with your friends or your family – this vibrant port city has you covered at all angles too. The nightlife in the area has a wonderfully electric reputation – and rightly so. Groups will find a buzzing nightlife division in the surrounding areas – filled with incredibly diverse clubs, pubs, bars, comedy bars and an array of happy, smiley faces to share your group trip with. Whether you’re a group of night owls looking to dance the night away or you’re just after a few quiet drinks, a coffee, some light comedy and a catch up – there is guaranteed to be something for you near the hostel. Nearby groups will also find wonderful shopping areas, fishing and snorkelling opportunities, theme parks, colourful local markets and a beautiful beach to kick back and relax on.

So if you’re looking for a group trip with a twist – send Fremantle Prison staff over an enquiry today and find out what they can do to make your next group trip a memorable one.
